Miami-Dade Public Library System
Commits to EnvisionWare Migration
Miami, FL Miami-Dade Public Library System has become the newest large library system to join the EnvisionWare family of global customers. Working collaboratively with partner, SirsiDynix, EnvisionWare has provided a migration strategy to help one of America's great large library systems to move from a legacy PC/Print management system to the EnvisionWare Suite that incorporates PC Reservation® and LPT:One technology.
Many factors entered into the library's decision to move to EnvisionWare. The assurance of seamless integration with Horizon, plug and play operation with existing Jamex coin-ops, dynamic language technology, and the robust, distributed processing architecture are just some of the important qualities that factored into the library's decision.
A seamless migration strategy was also an essential element. Many libraries use funds on deposit for printing, and when considering a financial shift coupled with public service and staff training concerns, a migration of forty-two libraries is no small undertaking. "Fortunately," said Mike Monk, Company Vice President, "we have tools and consulting expertise that make migrations relatively painless. So many of our recent customers have moved from competitive systems. This has resulted in the creation and complete testing of migration project plans that can easily be adapted to the unique needs of every library."
The Miami-Dade Public Library system has an annual circulation of over 5 million items and a service area population ithat exceeds 2 million. The design of PC Reservation® is well suited to libraries of all sizes and it scales better than any system available, to the needs of the largest library systems. EnvisionWare connects directly to the ILS for validation. Miami-Dade is a SirsiDynix Horizon customer. EnvisionWare’s software uses all of the enhanced SIP2 fields to make patron access rules and to control filtering for many libraries. SirsiDynix and EnvisionWare collaborated on the development strategy for enhanced SIP2.
EnvisionWare is the world’s largest supplier of end-to-end self-service solutions. EnvisionWare continues to set the bar for innovation and ease of use in self-service for libraries. All EnvisionWare solutions are designed and priced to fit the needs of every size and type of library. Today, more public libraries use EnvisionWare PC Management products than any other solution.
